network engineer- Tazewell, VA

We are actively seeking a Network Engineer to join our technical services team in Southwest Virginia. This position is responsible for providing a variety of technical support services related to the operation, administration and remediation of network hardware, operating systems, applications and network communications services.

The areas of responsibility listed below are essential to this position:

  • Performs all technical services required for the integration, installation and maintenance of information technology and voice communication systems.
  • Implements network solutions which are best suited to the operational needs of each client.
  • Recommends appropriate network configurations to meet organizational needs and industry standards.
  • Manages multiple client projects including coordination of internal/external resources, communications, maintaining project schedules, supervising quality standards, cost management as well as successfully managing any implementation issues or changes.
  • Performs customization, configuration and optimization of equipment and applications to meet users’ requirements and ensure top performance. Performs system administration for network management, task/project management on local and wide area networks.
  • Configures, maintains and manages network security features to ensure systems integrity. Responds to, diagnoses and resolves technical problems regarding equipment, and software performance and capabilities.
  • Analyzes and recommends the capabilities of hardware, software, and communications products to meet network requirements.
  • Provides telephone, in-person and online support to system administrators and end-users.
  • Performs preventative and remedial maintenance on network hardware and applications.
  • Assists in IT systems design and upgrades as required.
  • Participates in technical advisory role, as required.

Viable candidates will have documented knowledge of local and/or wide area networks; desktop/server/storage software and hardware; knowledge of data communications, network planning and analysis.

Minimum of 2 years hands-on, professional experience related to the design, installation, and maintenance of local and wide area networks. Related work experience as a Network Engineer or Administrator in a LAN or WAN environment. Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment. Experience with mission-critical applications preferred. Must have demonstrated success in leading and managing projects as well as the ability to independently perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.

Desirable Certifications include:

  • CompTIA A+/Network+/Server+/Security+/Storage+
  • Microsoft MTA/MCSA/MCSE/MCP/MCTS/MCITP
  • VMware VCP-DV/VCP-DCA/VCP-DCD

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Regional travel to customer sites is required. Some overnight travel may be required depending upon project requirements. Participation in a team after-hours on-call rotation is required.
  • Company vehicle is provided. Must hold a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record be able to transport self to various client sites as required.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background verification and obtain/maintain DCJS certification credentials.

Sales Engineer

Our Sales Engineer plays a critical role in building and sustaining customer relationships by providing pre-sale customer support for our technology solutions. This position works closely with our Sales Team to maximize opportunities by identifying, developing, accelerating and closing deals from a technical perspective. The SE is a high-impact, visible role, responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through the development and promotion of product and service solutions as well as development of these solutions to meet future customer needs. The SE must be technically knowledgeable, customer-focused and team-oriented and have a documented path of previous contribution to a growing, successful business environment.

Candidates must possess required technical and sales consulting skills, a client-focused approach, commitment to detail, quality-oriented attitude and must be assertive as well as intrinsically driven to analyze and solve client requirements. Essential background and qualifications include:

  • Any combination of education, certifications and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in information technology infrastructure products and data networking
  • Prior experience selling, installing and architecting data network hardware, software and operating system solutions
  • Ability to present, demonstrate and explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical buyers
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technology in the following areas: Intel-based servers and desktops, security, storage and back-up solutions
  • Knowledge of IP-based network appliances and operations including LAN switching, WAN, Internet routers, firewalls and other security devices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft network operating systems and desktop systems, network operating system provisioning and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a team to meet goals and business objectives
  • Ability to manage time and multiple projects in a dynamic sales environment
  • Attention to detail and quality orientation
  • Ability to support the sales staff and customers in the office and in the field as required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
